This residency will explore performing classical music by looking at its origins: instruments, performance practices, settings, circumstances when it was created, and how it can be presented most effectively in today’s time.
In doing so it will question every aspect of the current concert experience – time, length, setting and program. Some of the topics addressed will include: Is classical music a mass product or a luxury item? How does it fit in today’s society? What can we learn from other performing art forms?
The residency will continue to nurture individual performing excellency while encouraging participants to look for better integration of classical music in today’s culture.
